INDIANAPOLIS - The Northern Kentucky University men’s soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon at Key Stadium.

Wes Leeper and Dusty Shannon each scored first-half goals as Indianapolis improved to 9-6-2 overall, 5-6-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Matt Spaulding played all 90 minutes in goal for the Greyhounds and had six saves.

Andy Bacon netted a goal in the second half for NKU, which fell to 10-7-2 overall, 6-5-2 in the GLVC. The loss also dropped the Norse to the No. 6 seed in the upcoming GLVC Tournament.

The top four teams will host first-round GLVC Tournament games on Oct. 30. Southern Illinois at Edwardsville won the regular-season GLVC title and is the top seed. No. 2 seed Rockhurst, No. 3 seed Wisconsin-Parkside and No. 4 seed Quincy will also host first-round games.

NKU will travel to Kenosha, Wis., to meet Wisconsin-Parkside in the first round next Sunday. The winner will advance to the GLVC semifinals Nov. 4.

Wisconsin-Parkside (13-3-1 overall) finished 9-3-1 in the GLVC, but the Rangers ended the regular season Sunday with a stunning 1-0 loss at Kentucky Wesleyan. It marked the first conference win in nearly five years for Kentucky Wesleyan.

During the regular season, Wisconsin-Parkside posted a 4-0 win over NKU at Wilder, Ky.
