ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - DeAaron Williams and Leslie Malone combined for 36 points as Northern Kentucky University rallied for a 62-60 win at Lewis on Thursday night in the Neil Carey Arena.

Williams finished with 19 points and seven rebounds for NKU, which won its sixth consecutive game and improved to 15-4 overall. Malone added 17 points and nine rebounds for the Norse, who are ranked 11th nationally in the NCAA Division II poll.

Malone made two free throws with 15.4 seconds remaining to give NKU a 61-58 advantage. Lewis’ Jason Genova then missed a 3-pointer, but Marty Strus grabbed the offensive rebound with 2.1 seconds left and scored to make it 61-60.

Williams was fouled with less than a second left on the clock, and he made the first free throw to extend NKU’s lead to 62-60. He missed the second free throw intentionally and time expired. Lewis, which led by five points (28-23) at halftime, dropped to 11-8 overall.

Dustin Maguire added 11 points for the Norse, who upped their Great Lakes Valley Conference record to 8-2 and took over sole possession of first place in the GLVC East Division standings. Bellarmine, which entered Thursday night tied with NKU atop the GLVC East Division, was unable to travel to Quincy due to the winter storm and the game was postponed. The Knights will make up that game Monday at Quincy.

NKU will meet Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday afternoon in Somers, Wis.
