HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University men’s basketball head coach Dave Bezold announced that Holy Cross High School standout Corey Sorrell has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Norse.

Sorrell, a 6-foot-5 senior forward, averaged 15.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game as a junior at Holy Cross. One of the top outside shooters in the state, Sorrell made 43 percent of his 3-point attempts and 80 percent of his free throws.

“Corey will remind our fans of a taller Kevin Schappell with his outside shooting, and the way he is constantly in the gym working to improve his game,” Bezold said. “He is a very good perimeter shooter, makes his free throws and plays hard all the time.”

Going into his senior season, Sorrell had scored 709 career points. He also averaged 2.5 assists per game as a junior.

NKU is currently 4-1 overall, 2-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Sorrell is the Norse’s first signed recruit for next season.
