INDIANAPOLIS
- Northern Kentucky University’s Dennis Gagai has been named
the Great Lakes Valley Conference Freshman of the Year, the league
office announced Thursday.
In addition,
the Norse’s Harrison Morton was named to the All-GLVC second
team.
Gagai, a 6-foot-4
guard and a native of Ironton, Ohio, averages 10.7 points per game
and has knocked down a team-leading 62 3-pointers. He has also made
84.6 percent of his free throws.
Morton, a 6-4
senior forward from Lexington Catholic High School, averages a team-leading
14.4 ppg. He is shooting 59.2 percent from the field and has a team-leading
32 steals. Morton has scored 915 career points for NKU, which won
the GLVC East Division title this season.
The Norse are
20-7 and hoping to receive an at-large berth to the NCAA Division
II Tournament. Pairings for that event will be announced this Sunday
night.
Kentucky Wesleyan’s
Jeff Fahnbulleh was named GLVC Player of the Year, while the Panthers’
Todd Lee earned GLVC Coach of the Year accolades.
