HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Both Northern Kentucky University basketball teams earned NCAA Division II Tournament berths Sunday night and will begin play this weekend in their respective events.

The NKU women are the No. 4 seed in the Great Lakes Regional at Springfield, Mo., and will meet No. 5 seed Indianapolis on Friday at 8:30 p.m. (Central time). The Norse are 22-8 and defeated the Greyhounds twice during the regular season. Indianapolis enters the NCAA Tournament with a 22-7 record.

Drury is the No. 1 seed and host for the women’s Great Lakes Regional. The Lady Panthers meet eighth-seeded Bellarmine in the first round. The winner of that game will meet the NKU/Indianapolis survivor Saturday night in the semifinals.

The NKU men are the No. 4 seed in the Great Lakes Regional at Allendale, Mich., and the Norse play No. 5 seed Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. (Eastern time). NKU is 20-7 and owns two victories against the Panthers during the regular season. Kentucky Wesleyan is 24-7.

The NKU/Kentucky Wesleyan winner could meet unbeaten and top-seeded Grand Valley State (33-0) in the regional semifinals on Sunday. The Lakers meet Saint Joseph’s in the first round Saturday.
