HIGHLAND HEIGHTS,
Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University men’s basketball team
is ranked fourth in the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region poll,
which was released Wednesday.
Saint Joseph’s
is No. 1 in the Great Lakes Region men’s poll, followed by
Southern Illinois at Edwardsville and Southern Indiana. NKU is fourth,
followed by Findlay, Ferris State, Grand Valley State, Drury, Ashland
and Wisconsin-Parkside.
In the women’s
rankings, NKU is rated No. 5 in the Great Lakes Region. Drury is
No. 1, followed by Lake Superior State, Lewis, Grand Valley State
and NKU. Missouri-Rolla, Michigan Tech, Ashland, Quincy and Ferris
State round out the top 10 teams.
Eight teams
from each of the nation’s eight regions will qualify for the
NCAA Division II field of 64 in March. The winners of both the Great
Lakes Valley Conference and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference Tournaments will receive automatic berths to the NCAA
Tournament.
Six at-large
teams will also be selected to complete the Great Lakes Region field.
