Ind. - At long last, it’s over. And the margin hardly changed
in the final six minutes, 30 seconds of the suspended Dec. 8 game
that Northern Kentucky University and Saint Joseph’s played
out Wednesday afternoon.
Sullivan Sykes scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds as No.
3 Saint Joseph’s posted a 76-58 win over NKU
in the Scharf Alumni Fieldhouse. Saint Joseph’s owned a 57-40
lead with 6:30 remaining when the power went out in the gym on Dec.
8, causing the suspended game.
The game was
resumed at the point of stoppage Wednesday, and the Pumas outscored
the Norse by one point (19-18) in the final 6:30 of the game. Saint
Joseph’s improved to 26-2 overall, 16-2 in the Great Lakes
Valley Conference.
Kevin Reinhardt
scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead NKU, which is 15-10
overall, 10-7 in the GLVC. The Norse completed the game with 22
turnovers and shot 41.2 percent from the field.
Vincent Humphrey
added nine points for NKU. Kevin Schappell, Billy Finnell and Gavin
Ludgood each scored eight points for the Norse.
NKU will play
at Wisconsin-Parkside at 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The Norse close out
the regular season at 4 p.m. Saturday with a game at Lewis.
