NORSE ADD TALENTED POST PLAYER - Aug. 23, 2005
Former Arkansas prep star Ludgood to play for NKU this season

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University men’s basketball head coach Dave Bezold announced Tuesday that Gavin Ludgood has been added to the roster for the 2005-06 season.

Ludgood, a 6-foot-8, 235-pound post player, is a transfer from Division I Florida Atlantic University. Ludgood saw action in 14 games last season at Florida Atlantic and averaged 2.0 points in 6.9 minutes per contest. He shot 45.8 percent from the field and blocked six shots in 2004-05.

Ludgood also played two seasons of junior college basketball at Arkansas-Fort Smith. He averaged 12 points and 11 rebounds per contest at Arkansas-Fort Smith.

A 2001 graduate of Clarksville (Ark.) High School, Ludgood averaged 24 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks per game as a senior. He was named most valuable player of the Arkansas all-star game in 2001 and was selected as the state’s Mr. Basketball.

Ludgood will have one year of eligibility remaining. He joins an NKU program that posted a 14-15 record last season. The Norse also finished as runner-up in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.

In addition to Ludgood, NKU’s 2005-06 recruiting class includes prep standouts Kyle Gillette, Mike Kimmey, David McFarland and Scott Bibbins. The Norse also add transfers Aaron Smith and Vincent Humphrey to the roster this season.
