HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern
Kentucky University men’s basketball head coach Dave Bezold
announced Tuesday that Gavin Ludgood has been added to the roster
for the 2005-06 season.
Ludgood, a 6-foot-8,
235-pound post player, is a transfer from Division I Florida Atlantic
University. Ludgood saw action in 14 games last season at Florida
Atlantic and averaged 2.0 points in 6.9 minutes per contest. He
shot 45.8 percent from the field and blocked six shots in 2004-05.
Ludgood also played
two seasons of junior college basketball at Arkansas-Fort Smith.
He averaged 12 points and 11 rebounds per contest at Arkansas-Fort
Smith.
A 2001 graduate of Clarksville
(Ark.) High School, Ludgood averaged 24 points, 13 rebounds and
five blocks per game as a senior. He was named most valuable player
of the Arkansas all-star game in 2001 and was selected as the state’s
Mr. Basketball.
Ludgood will have one
year of eligibility remaining. He joins an NKU program that posted
a 14-15 record last season. The Norse also finished as runner-up
in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.
In addition to Ludgood,
NKU’s 2005-06 recruiting class includes prep standouts Kyle
Gillette, Mike Kimmey, David McFarland and Scott Bibbins. The Norse
also add transfers Aaron Smith and Vincent Humphrey to the roster
this season.
