Ky. - Northern Kentucky University men’s basketball head coach
Dave Bezold has added three recruits during the spring signing period.
They are:
•Kyle Gillette,
a 6-foot-8 post player from Loudonville (Ohio) High School. Gillette
averaged 16 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks per game as a senior,
and he led the Redbirds to the state semifinals of the Ohio Division
III Tournament. Gillette scored 27 points and grabbed 19 rebounds
in a loss against eventual state champion North College Hill in
the Division III Tournament semifinals.
•Mike Kimmey,
a 5-9 guard from Sycamore High School. Kimmey averaged 21 points
as a senior and led the Greater Miami Conference in scoring. He
scored 1,026 career points and was named All-GMC and All-City during
his junior and senior seasons.
•Aaron Smith,
a transfer from North Lake (Texas) Community College. Smith, a 6-3
guard and an outstanding long-range shooter, averaged 14 points
last season and made 80 three-point shots for North Lake. He is
from Arlington, Texas.
Those three recruits
join incoming freshman guard David McFarland, a Boone County High
School standout who signed in November.
NKU posted a 14-15 overall
record last season and advanced to the championship game of the
Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. The Norse lost to Southern
Indiana in the championship contest at Evansville, Ind.
