NKU MEN’S BASKETBALL ADDS THREE RECRUITS
Norse add trio of players in spring signing period for 2005-06 season

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University men’s basketball head coach Dave Bezold has added three recruits during the spring signing period. They are:

•Kyle Gillette, a 6-foot-8 post player from Loudonville (Ohio) High School. Gillette averaged 16 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks per game as a senior, and he led the Redbirds to the state semifinals of the Ohio Division III Tournament. Gillette scored 27 points and grabbed 19 rebounds in a loss against eventual state champion North College Hill in the Division III Tournament semifinals.

•Mike Kimmey, a 5-9 guard from Sycamore High School. Kimmey averaged 21 points as a senior and led the Greater Miami Conference in scoring. He scored 1,026 career points and was named All-GMC and All-City during his junior and senior seasons.

•Aaron Smith, a transfer from North Lake (Texas) Community College. Smith, a 6-3 guard and an outstanding long-range shooter, averaged 14 points last season and made 80 three-point shots for North Lake. He is from Arlington, Texas.

Those three recruits join incoming freshman guard David McFarland, a Boone County High School standout who signed in November.

NKU posted a 14-15 overall record last season and advanced to the championship game of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. The Norse lost to Southern Indiana in the championship contest at Evansville, Ind.
