NKU vs. Thomas More (Nov. 24, 2004)

Head Coach Dave Bezold

On the game...
“It was a tough game tonight because it is a community battle between us
and Thomas More, and they have a lot of quickness. They dictated the tempo
of the game for a lot of the night but our kids hung in there, built an
early lead, and we were fortunate enough to hold on to it.”

Changes made during the run...
“We were trying to figure out who would be solid on the floor for us and
give us the best opportunity defensively. We were, again, really bothered
by their quickness on the perimeter, so we had to get back to that.”

Harrison Morton

“I was feeling pretty good, doing what I try to do every game. It felt great.”

“I really don't like to play the point, but if that's what we need me to
do, that's what I'll do. I'm just glad things were working well tonight.”

Steve Purdon

On the importance of starting the season 3-0...
“It's great. You always want to start off on a good foot, because if you lose your first couple of games you can get yourself in a rut and it's hard to get out of something like that, but if you start off with a couple of wins, you can build on that and keep improving.”

On breaking the press...
“We're not the quickest team in the world, so a lot of people will try to press us and force an up-tempo game, but our point guards are heady enough that if we handle it like we did tonight it doesn't matter what the other team does - we'll come out fine.”

On Morton and Smith...
“We had some good players coming back, but we had a few holes that we had to fill in order to become a very good basketball team. Harrison and Derek have filled them and surpassed our expectations. They're both great basketball players and they're doing nothing but helping us. With their improvement and [the veterans'] improvement, hopefully we can get to where we need to be.”
