HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Three Northern Kentucky University baseball players earned spots on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division II All-America teams.  Matt Winterhalter was named to the second team, Evan McDole was a third team selection, while Kevin Dusold garnered an honorable mention.

Winterhalter, a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, was NKU’s power-pitching closer over the last two seasons, going 7-3 on the season with eight saves in 27 appearances.  His 1.02 earned run average led both the team and the Great Lakes Valley Conference.  Winterhalter struck out 41 batters and walked just 16 in 35 1/3 innings of work, allowing just four earned runs in that span.  Winterhalter was named second-team All-GLVC and a second-team All-Midwest Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

McDole, a junior from Cold Spring, Ky., led the Norse throughout the season in several offensive categories, including home runs (15), walks (45), slugging (.670) and on base percentage (.490).  He has garnered several postseason awards already this season, including an ABCA Midwest Region Gold Glove, GLVC and Midwest Region Player of the Year, ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American second-team and Rawlings/ABCA All-America second-team.

Dusold, a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, was a fireplug during the postseason for the Norse, driving in 19 runs during the GLVC and NCAA tournaments combined en route to a 71 RBI season, one short of the NKU single-season record.  Dusold earned a spot on the NCAA Midwest Regional All-tournament team after going 6-for-11 with two doubles, a home run and 5 RBIs.  Dusold was also honored on the All-GLVC and ABCA All-Region first teams.
