HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University swept the Great Lakes Valley Conference baseball awards this week, as Kevin Jordan was named the GLVC Pitcher of the Week and Kevin Dusold was named the GLVC Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Jordan had two solid outings over the past week, getting a complete-game victory in his first career start, a 4-1 decision over No. 24 Southern Indiana. Jordan struck out six and allowed just one run on five hits. Sunday against No. 14 Saint Joseph's, Jordan went 5 1/3 innings, giving up just one hit and fanning four in NKU's 6-4, extra innings victory.

Dusold was rock-solid from the plate, going 10-for-21 (.476) in six games with nine RBIs, six runs, a double and two home runs. In the USI sweep, Dusold was a combined 3-for-6. The junior returned for the weekend series to go 7-for-15 against the Pumas, including a game-winning grand slam in the series finale, an 11-7 triumph for the Norse.

It marks the third time in four weeks, and fourth time overall in 2008, the Norse have had one of their own named as Pitcher of the Week, as Dave Middendorf was honored both last week and on April 14 for shutout performances. Dusold is the second Player of the Week honoree the Norse have claimed this season, as Jake Shaffer was honored on March 24 for his double-heavy performance against Missouri S&T.

---Kevin Jordan struck out 10 batters in 12.1 innings of work to earn GLVC Pitcher of the Week.

The Norse (33-21, 21-10 GLVC) are winners of nine of their last 11 games, and enter this weekend's GLVC Tournament as the top wild card. The Norse will take on Bellarmine in their opening contest on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. EDT, and can be heard live at nkunorse.com.
