won two of three this weekend |
FLORENCE, Ky.
- Garrett Oros collected a pair of two-run singles to lead Southern
Indiana to a 5-2 win over Northern Kentucky University on Sunday
afternoon at Champion Window Field.
Oros gave Southern
Indiana (13-6, 4-3 Great Lakes Valley Conference) a 2-0 lead in
the fourth inning by sending a 3-2 pitch from Nathan Jones up the
middle to drive in Hunter Slade and Chad Werry with the first two
runs. With the Screaming Eagles holding a 3-1 advantage in the seventh,
Oros delivered again with a two-run single to left-center field.
Cory Julian
picked up the win for Southern Indiana after going 5 1/3 innings
and allowing one run. Brook Meier notched his fourth save of the
season as the Screaming Eagles took the rubber game of the weekend
series.
Jones pitched
five innings and allowed three hits, five walks and two earned runs
for NKU, which dropped to 4-13 overall, 3-4 in the GLVC. Matt Wagers
went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Norse, while teammate Jon Back
also drove in a run.
Larry Pempek
was 2-for-4 and scored a run for the Norse, who stranded nine runners
on base.
NKU will play
host to GLVC rival Bellarmine at noon Tuesday at Champion Window
Field.
