HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.
- Northern Kentucky University has captured the Great Lakes Valley
Conference All-Sports Trophy for the 2004-05 academic year.
This marks the fourth
time in the past six years NKU has won the GLVC All-Sports Trophy,
which is based upon each institution’s finish in each conference
championship in which it participates.
NKU also captured the
award in 2000, ’01 and ’02.
NKU won GLVC championships
in both women’s golf and softball in 2004-05, and the Norse
finished second in women’s soccer and men’s golf. NKU
totaled 101.5 points to edge runner-up Southern Indiana (100 points)
for the GLVC All-Sports Trophy.
NKU featured three student-athletes
who were honored as GLVC Player of the Year in 2004-05. They were
Kristin Koralewski (volleyball), David Shearer (men’s golf)
and Nate Madden (men’s soccer). Norse softball player Krystal
Lewallen was named GLVC Pitcher of the Year and also earned the
NCAA Division II National Player of the Year honor.
In addition, three NKU
coaches - Carlos Chia in volleyball, Daryl Landrum in women’s
golf and Kathy Stewart in softball - earned GLVC Coach of the Year
honors.
