ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Northern Kentucky University men’s golf team ended its season with a 12th-place finish at the NCAA Central Super Regional Tournament this week.
The Norse shot 43-over-par (297-301-297—895) as a team as Wayne State (Mich.) took the team title at seven-over-par (278-284-297—859), riding a remarkable first round on to victory. Northeastern (Okla.) State (291-281-293—865), Central Missouri (287-295-289—871), Ferris State (292-286-297—875) and Indianapolis (297-283-295—875) also qualified for the national tournament, to be held in Blane, Wash.
Jeremy Martin (77-72-72—221) led the Norse individually, going one-over-par in each of the final two rounds to finish 28th in the individual competition. Danny Lewis (77-73-73—223) bounced back from a six-over-par first round to land 45th. Eric Fuldner (76-78-74—228) shared 70th position, while Cody Moore (73-78-78—229) and Clint Kohls (71-82-81—234) rounded out NKU’s scorecard.
Wayne State’s Steve Cuzzort (67-69-70—206) carded a seven-under-par to take the medal. Bellarmine’s Brooks Herrick (72-70-71—213) and Washburn’s Matt Ewald (70-71-74—215) also advanced to the national finals. |
