BELLE VERNON, Pa. - Northern Kentucky University's Lyndsey Bevill shot a 19-over-par 235 at the NCAA East Regional, finishing sixth to qualify for the NCAA National Championships. Bevill (78-78-79) was steady throughout the tournament, finishing as one of the top three players not on a team advancing to nationals. California's (Pa.) Simone DeSouza (72-81-76--229) in third and Dianne Luke (77-79-82—238) in 10th also advanced as individuals. The Norse finished tied for seventh as a team, shooting a 998 (339-330-329) in the 54-hole event. Grand Valley State won the event, carding a 54-over-par 918 (300-312-306) to claim the regional championship and qualify for nationals. Ferris State (320-321-319) and Indianapolis (320-320-321) also earned spots in the finals, to be played in Findlay, Ohio at the Findlay Country Club on May 13-16. Alicia Stauffacher (82-82-80—244) finished 18th to help pace the Norse. Sofie Rasmussen (88-82-86—256), Charity Evans (91-93-85—269) and Hannah Lindauer (97-88-85—270) each lent two of their round scores to the team total. |
