COLUMBUS, Ind. – Clint Kohls shot a third-round 71 to take a third-place finish individually as the Northern Kentucky University men’s golf team finished second at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship at Otter Creek Golf Course.

Kohls (71-75-71—217) rallied to post a one-over-par result in the 54-hole event to earn All-GLVC honors but couldn’t keep pace with Justin Hueber of Indianapolis.  The defending GLVC Player of the Year shot seven-under-par (69-72-68—209) to win the event by seven strokes over second-place finisher Andrew Funk of Drury (71-76-69—216).

Seth Fair and Blair Webb of Indianapolis also earned spots on the All-GLVC team by finishing in the top five at the conference tournament.

The Norse (297-299-288—884) beat their Day 1 average by 10 strokes to finish the tournament 20-over-par.  However, Indianapolis (294-294-276—864), shooting 12-under-par as a team in the tournament’s final round, proved to be too much for the field and captured the team’s second consecutive GLVC title, increasing the lead the Greyhounds built after shooting 12 strokes above par through the first two rounds.

The Greyhounds’ even-par team score marked a new conference record in the 54-hole championship event.

NKU’s Eric Fuldner (75-72-74—221) was eight-over-par on the tournament to take a seventh-place finish while Danny Lewis (77-77-70—224) shared 12th place.  Jeremy Martin (74-75-76—225) lent his day one scores to the team total while landing in 16th position and Will Brown (80-85-73—238) added his third-round score to NKU’s final tally.

NKU will play in the Midwest Regional Invitational on April 21-22 at Purgatory in Noblesville, Ind., as a final tune-up before the NCAA Central Super Regional tournament at The Meadows in Allendale, Mich.
