LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University golf team returned to action with a vengeance this week as the women took second place in the Bellarmine Intercollegiate at Persimmon Ridge Golf Course while the men performed well in split-squad individual play.
Alicia Stauffacher shot a 13-over-par 157 (81-76) to take second in the event, one stroke behind Southern Indiana’s Jess Dooley (75-81—156). Likewise, USI (326-321—647) took the team event by three strokes over NKU (323-327—650).
Lyndsey Bevill (76-84—160) also claimed a top-five finish individually, sharing fourth at 16-over-par. Sofie Rasmussen (84-81—165) tied for 10th at 21-over-par, while Hannah Lindaure (82-86—168) and Charity Evans (85-88—173) rounded out the Norse golfers.
NKU head coach Daryl Landrum was able to bring along a group of men’s players to participate in the event on an individual basis as well, and the Norse made a strong showing led by Ryan Hines, who finished seventh at eight-over-par (77-75—152). Cody Moore (78-77—155) was just three strokes back in ninth place. Josh Reece (78-80—158) and Matt Poat (79-81—160) entered the clubhouse in 17th and 18th places, respectively, while Janson Cahill (85-94—179) finished 35th.
The NKU women head west this weekend to compete in the Grand Canyon University Invitational on April 6-7 at Palm Valley Golf Course in Goodyear, Ariz. |
