NEW YORK – After taking the team trophy at the Midwest Shootout,
the Northern Kentucky University women’s golf team earned
a No. 20 ranking in the NCAA Division II national poll, released
by Golf World and the National Golf Coaches Association.
Florida
Southern College continued as the nation’s No. 1
team with 13 of the 16 first place votes. Great Lakes Valley Conference
foe Indianapolis jumped five places to No. 12 in the nation. Southern
Illinois at Edwardsville was among other teams receiving votes.
The
Norse won the Midwest Shootout this past weekend, finishing with
a team score of 643, 13 strokes ahead of second-place finisher
Indianapolis. The event featured 12 of the GLVC’s 13 women’s
golf squads.
Alicia Stauffacher has continued to lead the Norse
during their fall season, finishing no lower than third in each
of her four tournaments. She concluded the fall with a 76.25 scoring
average in eight rounds, ranking among the top golfers in the GLVC.
The Norse will continue their quest for a third GLVC championship
this spring.
