JOPLIN, Mo. - The Northern Kentucky University men's golf team finished seventh at the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional played at the par-72 Twin Hills Golf and Country Club.

The Norse shot +36 (295-306-299—900) in the three-day event and fell 36 strokes off the pace set by Ferris State, which shot an even-par 864 (290-284-290) to win and advance to the NCAA national championships in Allendale, Mich.

Andrew Jewell led the Norse with a +8 (72-77-75—224) to place 23rd individually. Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year David Shearer (79-74-73—226) and Jonathan Ehlen (74-78-74—226) each finished +10, tied for 28th place. Mike Kessling (76-77-77—230) and Clint Kohls (73-78-79—230) each shot +14 to finish tied for 38th.

Ferris State's Jeff Carlson (68-69-69—206) shot a -10 to take the individual medal. Kyle Lickenbrock of Southern Illinois at Edwardsville shot a -9 (69-71-67—207) and qualified for the national finals as the highest-finishing individual without a team advancing.
