HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University men’s golfer David Shearer has been selected as a Great Lakes Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipient.

Shearer, a native of Charlevoix, Mich., was a PING All-America selection this spring after capturing the medal at the GLVC Championships for the third straight season. He also led NKU to its second straight GLVC title this spring and a berth in the NCAA Division II Super Regional Tournament.

He later earned All-America scholar accolades from the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Shearer, a three-time GLVC Player of the Year, earned a 3.238 grade point average as a sports business major. In addition, the NKU Athletic Council named Shearer as the Vincent Schulte Athlete of Distinction recipient in April.
