Members of the Northern Kentucky University men’s golf team
enjoyed a record-breaking afternoon at their own invitational Monday.
The Norse shot a school-record
round of 283 (-5) Monday and finished the two-day NKU Fall Invitational
with a score of 573 (-3) at the par-72 Perry Park Country Club.
NKU finished 19 strokes ahead of runner-up Southern Indiana (592)
to win the event at the 7,156-yard course.
NKU’s Andrew Jewell
won medalist honors playing as an individual with rounds of 68-68
for a school-record score of 136 (-8) in the two-day tournament.
Jewell, a native of Fairfield, Ohio, finished with 10 birdies and
an eagle during the 36-hole tournament to record his first win as
a collegiate player.
NKU’s Mark Krahe
posted a second-place finish with a two-day total of 138. Krahe
shot a 70 during Monday’s final round and his score of 138
led the members of the winning NKU team.
David Shearer and Clint
Kohls each shot 144 for the tournament and tied for sixth place.
Jon Ehlen had a score of 147 and tied for eighth place.
Ben Song of Missouri-St.
Louis carded a 67 Monday and posted a third-place finish with a
total of 141.
