COLUMBUS, Ind. - David
Shearer fired a 140 during the opening 36 holes of the Great Lakes
Valley Conference Championships on Monday and helped the Northern
Kentucky University men’s golf team build a 12-stroke lead
going into Tuesday’s final 18 holes.
Shearer shot a 4-under-par
68 during the first 18 holes Monday, and he followed that with a
72 to take a three-shot lead over Wisconsin-Parkside’s Corey
Sell (143) going into the final round at Otter Creek Golf Course.
Shearer finished with 11 birdies Monday.
NKU totaled 580 (+4)
as a team by placing four golfers in the top 20. Mark Krahe shot
145
and is in fifth place for NKU, which is seeking its first GLVC title
since 2001.
Bellarmine and Drury
each finished with scores of 592 and are tied for second place.
