INDIANAPOLIS – Northern Kentucky University’s Drew Harris has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Runner of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. Harris claims the fastest eight-kilometer time in the GLVC after finishing in 24:47 at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday.

Harris now lays claim to the second and third fastest 8,000-meter times in NKU history after eclipsing his performance from a week prior at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational in Chicago by almost 30 seconds. The sophomore’s run was good enough for 34th place in the predominantly Division-I 294-runner field. As a team, the Norse took 13th place in the 33-team field with 382 points.

This marks the second time Harris has earned GLVC Runner of the Week honors this season. On Sept. 16, Harris was honored for his seventh-place finish at the Mel Brodt Invitational in Bowling Green, Ohio, running a 26:39 in that event.

NKU is ranked No. 4 in the Midwest Region by the USTFCCCA, with two races remaining until the GLVC Championships.

The Norse return to action this weekend at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational in Pittsburgh, Pa.
