WEST CHESTER,
Ohio - Northern Kentucky University cross country runner Rose Jepkirui
posted a fifth-place finish at the Xavier Invitational on Saturday
with a time of 19:04.
Jepkirui, a
junior from Mosoriot, Kenya, was NKU's top performer in the women's
five-kilometer event. Norse junior Julianne Hoekzema finished eighth
by completing the Voice of America Park course in 19:16.
Ohio State won
the team title with a score of 22, and Xavier finished second with
43 points. NKU was third with a score of 63.
In the men's
five-kilometer race, sophomores Zach Koehler and Matthew Shoulta
each finished in the top 10 as NKU knocked off Xavier for second
place. Ohio State won the team title with a perfect score of 15,
while NKU totaled 57. Xavier was third with a score of 69.
Koehler took
ninth place with a time of 15:50.1, while Shoulta was 10th in a
time of 15:50.9. The Norse's Keith Knapp posted an 12th-place finish
with a time of 15:55.
NKU will host
the third annual Norse Cross Country Classic next Friday at A.J.
Jolly in Alexandria, Ky.
