HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The eighth annual Brian Rohne Memorial 5K Run/Walk will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, on the campus of Northern Kentucky University. The Brian Rohne Memorial 5K Run is held in honor of former NKU cross country runner Brian Rohne, who was killed by an automobile in January of 1993 while on a training run on the AA Highway in Cold Spring, Ky. During the 1992 fall season, Rohne had earned most valuable runner honors for NKU after being named All-Great Lakes Valley Conference. The cost to enter is $14 if postmarked by Aug. 9, and $15 the day of the race. Awards will be given to at least the top three finishers in various age divisions. A new feature to this years event is a team competition that will consist of at least four runners per squad. Teams can have an unlimited number of runners, but only the top four finishers will count in the team score. The top three teams will receive awards, and all runners are eligible to win individual age group awards. Registration will take place next to the Albright Health Center on the Highland Heights campus after 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 16. Proceeds from the race will benefit the NKU cross country program through the Brian Rohne Memorial Fund. For more information, call (859) 572-5193. |
