Holmes, Koralewski lead NKU past Hawks |

QUINCY, Ill. - Liz Holmes and Kristin Koralewski each recorded double-doubles Saturday to lead Northern Kentucky University past Quincy University, 30-17, 31-29, 30-19 at the Pepsi Arena. Holmes finished with 19 kills, 16 digs and a .469 hitting percentage for NKU, which improved to 12-8 overall, 5-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Holmes, who hammered down the 19 kills in 32 attempts with four errors, also had four blocks. Koralewski added 18 kills, 24 digs and a .405 hitting percentage as the Norse rolled to the sweep. It was the fourth straight double-double for Koralewski, who leads the GLVC in kills and hitting percentage. NKU attacked at a .375 clip in the opening game, converting 18 of 40 attacks with just three errors. Quincy (7-14 overall, 3-5 GLVC) fought back and held the Norse to a .216 hitting percentage in the second game, but NKU pulled out a 31-29 victory. In the third game, NKU hit .333 and limited Quincy to a .093 hitting percentage to complete the sweep. The Norse - who have not lost to the Hawks since 1998 - upped their lead in the all-time series against Quincy to 18-1. Lynne Fischesser collected 11 kills, six digs and a .310 hitting percentage for NKU, while teammate Amber Timmons served up three aces and finished with 20 digs. Andrea Lanham directed the Norse offense and recorded 48 assists and nine digs. Amber Heimann led Quincy with 15 kills, and she also added 13 digs. NKU will meet Saint Josephs College at 7 p.m. next Friday in Regents Hall. |
