NKU WINS THRILLER AT UM-ST. LOUIS

Koralewski collects career-high 29 kills as Norse get road win

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Kristin Koralewski recorded a career-high 29 kills and added 17 digs Friday night as Northern Kentucky University held off the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 27-30, 33-31, 30-28, 28-30, 15-12, at the Mark Twain Building.

Koralewski, a senior outside hitter, also had four blocks and a .350 hitting percentage as NKU improved to 11-8 overall, 4-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse limited Missouri-St. Louis (6-10 overall, 2-5 GLVC) to a .125 hitting percentage and remained unbeaten (16-0) in the all-time series with the Riverwomen.

NKU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the fifth game and never trailed. Missouri-St. Louis closed to within 13-12, but the Norse responded with the next two points to pull out the road win.

Koralewski, a first team All-America selection last season, now has 1,246 career kills at NKU and ranks seventh in school history in that category. She leads the GLVC in both kills and hitting percentage this season.

Sophomore setter Andrea Lanham notched a double-double with 54 assists and 20 digs, while teammate Liz Holmes finished with 18 kills, eight digs and five blocks. Tristen Dye added 13 kills and seven digs for NKU, which held a 90-82 advantage in digs.

Julie Lewis had 10 kills and attacked at a .360 clip for the Norse. Amber Timmons picked up a career-best 28 digs, including her 1,000th dig at NKU. The senior libero from Muncie, Ind., now has 1,023 career digs with the Norse.

Daria Sak led Missouri-St. Louis with 17 kills and 22 digs, while Heather Nichols added 15 kills and 21 digs.

NKU will visit Quincy University at 3 p.m. Saturday.
