The Association
in Support of
Non-Tenure Track Faculty

Origins

The Association is a group of tenure and non-tenure faculty who have come together out of concern for the quality of the instructional program and the working conditions of non-tenure track faculty at Northern Kentucky University. To emphasize our commitment, we have formed ourselves into a formal association, conducted a successful membership drive, opened a University Foundation account, and published newsletters as well as this web page. We have had several meetings and contacts with President James Vortruba and his administration, and some agreement and progress has been made. There is still a long way to go to guarantee that Northern Kentucky University receives the quality of life and instruction it deserves.

Our stance is cooperative within the campus community and with President Votruba's Defining Our Future: Northern Kentucky's Five-Year Strategic Agenda. Prior to our Association, the non-tenure track faculty were the only university employees without representation in the collegial governance process.

We feel that the growth and long term development of the Northern Kentucky region is consistent with paying educators wages and benefits commensurate with their role in society.
