CORE VALUES

Preamble

The College of Arts and Sciences is at the center of NKU's efforts to become a preeminent metropolitan university dedicated to strengthening the region's and the Commonwealth's intellectual, social, cultural, and civic vitality.  We support these efforts by offering both disciplinary and interdisciplinary programs in the liberal arts and sciences that equip all learners with an understanding and appreciation of the fine arts, humanities, social and natural sciences and mathematics. Accordingly, we embrace the University's eight core values and augment them with the following:

Critical Inquiry

We are committed to stimulating students' abilities to think critically about their course of study, themselves and global issues, and to familiarizing them with methods of inquiry and means of expression across disciplines.

Engaged Citizenship

We are committed to providing an educational environment that encourages all learners to explore new avenues of learning and that provides them with academic, technological and practical skills as well as with insights into the human experience that are necessary for meaningful and satisfying personal and professional lives. By preparing students for a lifetime of learning, we will help them to adapt to and participate fully in a complex, ever-changing global society.
