About the College

College Profile

As an evolving academic division of the University, the College of Arts and Sciences currently enrolls 3900 undergraduate and 170 graduate students in 12 departments. The 12 academic departments are: art; biological sciences; chemistry; history and geography; literature and language; mathematics; music, physics and geology; political science and criminal justice; psychology; sociology, anthropology and philosophy; and theatre and dance.

The College also houses innovative and nationally recognized programs such as the Institute for Freedom Studies and the Center for Integrative Natural Science and Mathematics. The College provides 28 percent of all credit hours taught at the University, including over 80 percent of all honors credit hours and 96 percent of the General Studies Curriculum course offerings. More than 230 full time faulty, 180 part-time faculty, and 40 staff members are employed in the College. The Dean oversees a budget of $23 million and is supported by nine full-time staff members.
