Lambda Alpha National Anthropology Honor Society

NKU Gamma of Kentucky Chapter

Outstanding anthropology students, faculty, and alumni are invited to join Lambda Alpha National Anthropology Honor Society. The NKU chapter, Gamma of Kentucky, was chartered in 1996. Requirements for student membership include:

  • Anthropology Major
  • At least 75 credit hours completed
  • At least 12 hours in upper-division Anthropology courses (including not more than one 394 or 399 course and excluding 398, 498, and 499)
  • At least 3.0 overall GPA
  • At least 3.2 GPA in Anthropology courses
  • No deficiency courses left to complete
  • One-time life membership dues of $25

NKU anthropology alumni may apply for membership with proof that they are professional anthropologists and payment of one-time life membership dues of $25. Dr. Barbara Thiel (email address) is the faculty sponsor of Lambda Alpha. Dr. Thiel can also be reached at 859-572-5259 for more information on Lambda Alpha. A student who meets the above criteria may apply for membership after receiving fall or spring semester grades. A framed copy of the NKU Gamma Chapter of Kentucky charter hangs near the departmental office in Landrum.
