The purpose of this course is to introduce educators to the utilization of computers in the instructional process and focus on technological solutions necessary for a professional career as a teacher and/or nurse educator.  Particular emphasis is placed upon the uses and effects of technology on the classroom and curriculum, evaluation of technology resources, telecommunications, multimedia and application software.

The guiding content for this course is based upon:

  • Educational Professional Standards Board (EPSB) Experienced Teacher Standards (ETS)

  • National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T)

  • National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS-S)

  • Kentucky Technology Standards for Teachers and Students

This course fulfills an elective option in the Masters in Education, Fifth-Year or Rank I programs.  It is also the first required course in the Instructional Computer Technology (ICT) Endorsement program.
