Scholarships

 

Jane Dotson Memorial Scholarship 

To honor Jane Dotson, Ph.D. through the annual award of a scholarship to a student majoring in Human Services.  Scholarship established in 1996 by Avery O. Dotson, husband of the late Jane Dotson, who served NKU from 1965 to 1988,  as Director of Human Services.  The amount of the scholarship is $3,000.00.


Rachel Votruba Endowed Scholarships

Four scholarships, each valued at $500, are available for students enrolled in the School Counseling program. 

Guidelines

  • Applicant must complete a College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) graduate scholarship application by the announced deadline.
  • Applicant must be accepted in the school counseling program
  • Applicant must be a full time student (6 hours per semester-fall, spring)
  • Scholarship is to be used for college expenses – tuition, books, fees, etc.
  • Essay from student stating why he/she should be considered
    1. Student’s philosophy related to school counseling
    2. Why is becoming a school counselor important to the student?
    3. How can the student change how school counselors are viewed?
    4. Financial need of student.
  • Maintain a 3.0  average
  • Worksheet on financial aid  
  • Attempt to be present at tea to receive the scholarship
  • Maintain communication (2 times a semester) with Rachel Votruba concerning your progress in the school counseling program.  
  • 3-5 minutes presentation at next year’s tea on what receiving the scholarship meant to you
  • Applications hand delivered to room BEP 203 by noon Feb. 28 or if sent by mail postmarked by Feb. 28.
  • Four or five scholarship will be awarded in ’07.
  • Scholarship is renewable
