  Checking Your Status:
Students who have applied online or with a paper application can check their status online at any time.  Online students, you can check their status immediately.  Students who apply with a paper application, please wait at least a week after sending your application -- it may take a few days for your application to arrive and be entered into our system.

2. Login ID: Enter your Social Security Number (no dashes or spaces).  Click "Continue."

3. Application Fee Policy*:  There is a non-refundable $25.00 application fee for online admission applications.  If you prefer to apply for admissions using a paper application, you will be charged a non-refundable $40.00 application fee.  Application fees for online applications may be paid online by credit card.

*Reminder: Your application will not accepted until your application fee is received.

  • A student who carries dual status as a post-bachelor and graduate student will be assessed an application fee at each degree level.
  • Students who change their classification (for example, from non-degree to degree seeking) will be assessed an application fee for each change of status.
  • Students who have received their bachelor's or Master's degree from NKU do not need to pay a post-bachelor application fee.
  • A fee waiver may be requested in instances of financial hardship if the request is accompanied by a letter from a high school counselor or principal; a Talent Search counselor or Upward Bound official; a member of NKU Student Support Services; or certification of financial assistance by a case worker affiliated with a state agency.
4. Have your necessary credentials sent to the Admissions Office.

5. Once your application, application fee, and all necessary credentials are received an admissions decision will be made.
The Office of Admissions evaluates an applicant's admission status.

The purpose of this evaluation is to determine the applicant's preparation for college-level coursework.  The evaluation focuses on two areas:  the student’s high school coursework (pre-college curriculum – PCC) and the ACT, SAT or COMPASS exam scores.  We evaluate these two areas to determine if the applicant meets the minimum requirements set forth by both the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education and NKU for admission to a degree program.

ADMISSION STATUS

In fall 2005, Northern Kentucky University implemented a set of comprehensive undergraduate admission standards for all first-time freshmen. Students will be admitted into one of two categories - regular admission or admissions with conditions.

Regular Admission - Students have met NKU's admission standards.

Admission with Conditions - Students will be admitted, but required to complete a customized academic support program to ensure their success.
