For more information: Pre-Medical or Physician Assistant page

Students who wish to pursue a career in medicine or become a physician assistant may fulfill a medical school's admission requirements with any undergraduate degree.
The two most common degrees sought by pre-med students at NKU are in biological sciences (cellular/molecular/genetics track) and chemistry (biochemistry track). It is recommended that non-science majors complete several electives at the 300 level and above in biology, chemistry or related disciplines.
Regardless of the major a student chooses, they must meet the professional program's general course requirements. It's a good idea for students to consult the medical school of their choice for more specific entrance requirements.
Students interested in medicine should work closely with their advisors to complete those specific requirements as well as their bachelor’s degree. At NKU, the Department of Biological Sciences and the Department of Chemistry have faculty who are dedicated pre-med advisors.
