Northern Kentucky University's Department of Music offers a full range of performance and education opportunities to music majors. The department offers the degrees of Bachelor of Music in performance, Bachelor of Music in music education, Bachelor of Music in composition, and Bachelor of Arts in music. We are also excited to offer a new area of performance emphasis in jazz studies. A music minor is also available to students majoring in other disciplines.

Our graduates pursue successful careers as professional performers, college and university faculty, public school music teachers, private studio instructors, and in allied fields within the music industry. Since our primary focus is undergraduate instruction, students receive individual attention from these outstanding musicians, teachers and scholars. We believe that we offer our students the best professional training in a friendly, caring and personal musical environment.

Music Prep

The Northern Kentucky University Music Preparatory Department believes that arts education is an essential and fundamental necessity. NKU Music Preparatory provides community and continuing education programs of the highest quality to students of all ages and abilities and also strives to enrich the culture of the greater-Cincinnati and northern-Kentucky regions through engaging artistic experiences and outreach initiatives.
