Majors

Northern Kentucky University's Department of Music offers a full range of performance and education opportunities to music majors. Our graduates pursue successful careers as professional performers, college and university faculty, public school music teachers, private studio instructors and in allied fields within the music industry. 

Our students have been accepted for graduate study at such renowned institutions as the Juilliard School, Indiana University–Bloomington, The San Francisco Conservatory of Music, University of Wisconsin–Madison, Iowa State University, the Eastman School of Music, and the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

Award-winning faculty

Our faculty includes 57 teachers and artists from six different countries, all of whom bring a rare combination of professional expertise and pedagogical excellence to the studio and the classroom.

They hold degrees from the most  prestigious and well-respected universities and conservatories in  the world, and are the recipients of many competition prizes and  music awards.

Students benefit from this team of teachers who remain closely connected with the professional music scene nationally and internationally. The majority of our adjunct faculty are full-time professional musicians; many are regulars with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
