HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University will host a Take Back the Night rally to raise awareness of gender-based violence on Thursday, Nov. 19, from 6-8 p.m., beginning at the Bank of Kentucky Center and proceeding to the NKU Student Union.
The free public event will feature a candlelit march through campus, speakers and a moment of silence for those who have lost their lives to violence. At the conclusion of the march, there will be a final speaker and a "speak-out" point where victims of violence can share their stories.
There will also be tables set up by various organizations and crisis centers to provide information and support. Donations to the YWCA of Greater Cincinnati will also be collected. The event is sponsored by an NKU Gender and Communication class and NKU Housing through the generosity of a donation from Catholic Health Initiatives Northern Kentucky Mission team.
