HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.
- Northern Kentucky University's Delta Zeta Sorority will host a kickball tournament to raise money for the Painted Turtle Camp on Sunday, Oct. 4, at St. Mary's Church in Alexandria, Ky.

The Painted Turtle Camp is dedicated to enriching the lives of children with chronic diseases and life threatening illnesses. The camp offers a chance for children to be active and live a normal life, while still having access to their much needed medical assistance. The children at the Painted Turtle Camp get an opportunity to forget about the everyday burdens of their medical issues completely free of charge. The camp is run solely on donations and volunteers.

"The Painted Turtle Camp was the most amazing thing I've ever experienced," said Ashley Elli, a camp volunteer and executive board member of Delta Zeta. "The things that the camp was able to do for these children were absolutely amazing. Everything the kids received and did was completely paid for. It's so nice to know that there are organizations out there that support the camp and are as giving as they are to help these children have as many worry-free childhood experiences as possible. Being there helped me see how important the experience was for them and how much it really did mean to them."

The "Kickin' it with the DZs" kickball tournament will run from 2-6 p.m. Teams can range from seven to 10 people, and the cost to participate is $8 per person, which includes a T-shirt. Participants can sign up by emailing Lacey Mile at milel1@nku.edu. Teams can sign up any time up to the start of the tournament. A homemade baked goods sale will also take place during the kickball tournament with all proceeds also going to the Painted Turtle Camp.
