Ready to Fight Crime

Ashlei started out wanting to be an attorney. Then she switched to forensic science. Finally, she decided to combine her knack for the theater with her interest in law enforcement. Following a stint with a stateside police department, she sees the FBI in her future.

Choosing a favorite criminal justice instructor was a struggle.

"My favorite professor?" she says. "That's really hard. Detective Josh Quinn uses lots of fun video, pictures and personal experience, and gives excellent insight into the police academy selection process. Ken Easterling is a county prosecutor and knows the criminal justice system inside out. Mark Marsolais is a former cop and is such a fun guy and caring person. He always comes up with hands-on activities for Intro to Forensic Science and joins right in cutting up maggots or dusting fingerprints.

"They are all criminal justice professionals, and use their connections and insight to our benefit," she says. "Real-life information is so much more valuable and makes lessons easier to retain. They are all making a huge impact on my career."
