NKU Is the Opportunity!

Why NKU Alumna and Staff Member "Gives Back"

We've heard it so often it has practically become trite: Education is the key.

For me, a young adult, place-bound by work and family commitments, a college education once seemed a far-off dream. But NKU offered me opportunity and opened the door to a richer, happier life.

I am proud to have earned bachelor and master degrees from NKU and to have been a member of the NKU staff since 1991. It has been a pleasure to serve the university and the community through my work in continuing education and public engagement, helping in small but important ways to connect the resources of the university with friends, neighbors and potential NKU students throughout the region.

I truly enjoy giving back to the university that has meant so much to me and my family. My financial contributions, while not at all large, have combined with the generosity of many others to help transform a former farm pond into the spectacular Loch Norse, support the proud tradition of Norse athletics and complete Alumni Hall in the new student union. My walks across campus give me myriad reasons to smile and to hope!

My hope is that through the opportunity of education, our students will become engaged, productive and caring individuals.  I want them to be able to provide for themselves and their families and willing to invest time and treasure in their neighborhoods and communities. My hope is also for Northern Kentucky, that we create an open, thriving and comfortable environment for all who choose to live, work and play here.

Education is the key. NKU is the opportunity. I live it -- and share it -- every day.
