- Now Hiring Head of Access Services
- Northern Kentucky University’s Steely Library invites applications for the position of Head of Access Services. To apply log-on-to and fill out the application form at NKU's Online Employment Site.
- Some Databases Going Away
- Funding for the Kentucky Virtual Library was cut significantly at the beginning of July. Member libraries have tried to negotiate with vendors for special pricing and KYVL has sought pledges to be able to fund the databases. While these efforts did enable KYVL to maintain several databases, the following databases will soon be cut: Professional Development Collection, Health Source Nursing, Religion & Philosophy Collection, Military & Government Collection, Computing, Literary Reference Center, Biography Reference Bank, Article First, Papersfirst, World Almanac, Proceedings First, Clase and Periodica, ECO, Electronic Books by OCLC, WorldCat Dissertations and Theses.
- Steely Library Receives Grant from Cincinnati Bar Foundation
- Steely Library receives Cincinnati Bar Foundation grant to provide educational Copyright awareness film and website for regional schools. Extended Collection Services Librarian John Schlipp has been awarded $9,000 to produce Creative Thinking: Intellectual Property for Teens and Young Adults. An NKU summer film class is creating an original film, while a project committee of NKU, U of L, and other regional community partners such as CET and the Campbell County Public Library will coordinate the final film/website presentation.

- Lois Schultz wrote the entry on Jane Roberta Summers in the African American National Biography published by Oxford University Press in 2008. (Vol. 7 p. 455-456)
- Philip Yannarella will attend in the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing International Association (EMDRIA) Annual conference
- Philip Yannarella will attend in the EMDRIA Annual conference in Phoenix on September 11-14. He will represent Steely Library which is in partnership with EMDRIA on a special project.
- Perry Bratcher Published in Thinking Outside the Book
- "Publishing an Article in a Scholarly Journal" was published in the book Thinking Outside the Book: Essays for Innovative Librarians edited by Carol Smallwood.
- Allen Ellis speaks at the Northern Kentucky Civil War Roundtable
- Allen Ellis spoke on "Captain Daniel Ellis, the Old Red Fox of East Tennessee" for the Northern Kentucky Civil War Roundtable, August 26.
- Rob Zai & Mary Chesnut Present at ALA-O
- "Embedding Librarians with Course Management Systems" will be presented at the Academic Library Association of Ohio in Wilmington, OH on October 24th.
