Community Service Projects

Summer Residential Web Camp

Although community service is not a requirement of ETS, we do provide community service opportunities.  They are a wonderful way for students to give back and support others while learning valuable life lessons.  In the past, we have worked with Welcome House in Northern Kentucky to wrap holiday gifts for the homeless.

During the month of June, a group of 7th and 8th graders move into the residential halls at NKU.  They spend one week living, learning, and socializing on campus.  We provide both classroom and recreational experiences so that students can become familiar with the college experience.

Talent Search identifies and assists individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education.  The program provides academic, career, and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and continue on to the post-secondary institution of their choice.  The goal of Talent Search is to increase the number of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school and continue their education by attending further schooling.

Here are some examples of what we do:

Our advisors plan, schedule, and present FAFSA workshops for both students and parents who are working through the financial aid process.

Financial Aid Workshops

In the early spring, advisors meet with 11th grade students to discuss the ACT test.  They assist students in registering for the test, provide a fee waiver, and do an intensive study session to prepare students for test day.

Career planning is important and we begin talking about it in the 7th grade.  Through discussions, computer searches, job shadowing, and a career day event we help students through the process of investigating the world of work.

Career Planning

It is difficult to pick the right school if you have never been for a visit.  We offer many trips throughout the school year to area schools so that students can become familiar with some of their choices.
