PREPARING
NEW TEACHERS FOR TECHNOLOGY-RICH SCHOOL ENVIRONMENTS
Capacity Building Grant
September 1999 - September 2000
Technology-Rich Classroom
The new classroom includes two
instructional areas. One area allows for more traditional types of
classroom interaction between faculty and students. The instructor's
station is equipped with a computer, document camera and VCR that are
all connected to a ceiling mounted projector. A SmartPanel
allows for easy switching between devices to be projected. There
is also a SmartBoard which allows for interactive lectures by the
instructor.
The second instructional area, in
the back of the room, includes twelve computers (8 Dell and 4
Mac) large monitors. These islands allows for cooperative group
problem solving activities. There is also a ceiling mounted projector
connected to one of these computers for use by the instructor when
whole class activities are conducted here.
