student teaching semester, the culminating experience for your
teacher education program at Northern Kentucky University. Please

Who
qualifies?
1.
Entering the student
teaching semester requires many steps and your primary goal is to
stay in touch with your advisor every semester.

When
do I apply?
Applying for
student teaching is a two step process.
1.
Two semesters prior to
student teaching check the
COEHS Advising Center web site for application meeting schedule.
Click

the application meeting schedule. This step will take you
only five minutes, but it is absolutely critical.
2. One
semester prior to student teaching attend one of the application
meetings. Note: The application meetings are held in the early
weeks of the semester prior to the student teaching semester.
How do I
apply?
1.
At the application
meetings, you will be given the forms and the information you need
to complete the application process.
Student
Teaching Glossary
- Student
Teacher – NKU student who is placed in an accredited school(s)
for 16 weeks for supervised mentoring.

Cooperating Teacher – A qualified professional who mentors and
evaluates the student teacher.
- University
Supervisor – A university representative who assesses and
recommends the grade.

Coordinator of Student Teaching – Assists student teachers
through application process, placement, and final assessment.
Tuition Waiver
– Available for all cooperating teachers upon completion of
mentoring a student teacher for 8 or 16 weeks.
