Giving Back - The Chase Annual Fund
The Chase College of Law "Annual Fund" campaign for 2007-2008 will be coming to a close for this fiscal year on June 30th. If our alumni and student volunteers were unable to reach you during our fall and spring fundraising drives, please consider making a gift to Chase, in any amount, before the end of our fiscal year. If you would like to designate your gift for a specific purpose or program, please feel free to include a notation with your gift.
It has been an exciting and successful academic year! We have established two new centers of excellence at Chase, one in advocacy law and one in business and transactional law. Through these centers, law professors are partnering with alumni to complement the curriculum with a wide range of practical skills training opportunities for our students. This spring, a Chase team won the National Championship at the Wagner Labor and Employment Law Moot Court Competition in New York City and another Chase team won the National Championship at the Adoption and Child Welfare Law Moot Court Competition in Columbus, Ohio. Chase teams also won several regional and state mock trial and arbitration competitions. Additionally, students participating in the Chase Constitutional Law Clinic represented actual clients in state and appellate courts.
Alumni gifts provide a very important margin of financial support for our programs, over and above the amounts generated through tuition and the state budget. You may make a gift to the Chase Annual Fund by contacting Shelley Menninger at 859.572.1461 or menningermi@nku.edu, or you may make a gift online at http://chaselaw.nku.edu/alumni/index.php.
Chase Advocacy Center, Inaugural CLE Program
The Chase Center for Excellence in Advocacy will hold its inaugural CLE program on June 13, 2008, at the University. The program, "A Day on Trial! Winning Trials in the 21st Century" will feature internationally recognized experts Thomas A. Mauet and Dominic J. Gianna. They will turn the classroom into a courtroom through a "gavel-to-gavel" interactive trial demonstration, perfect for experienced practitioners and students alike. Learn new techniques and strategies for all types of litigators. The registration fee is $50 (the fee is waived for Judges, law students and paid members of the Chase Alumni Association). To register, contact Kathy Molique at 859.572.6313 or moliquek1@nku.edu.
Chase Alumni Reception at KBA Convention
The Chase Alumni Association will host its annual reception for Chase alumni during the Kentucky Bar Association Convention in Lexington.
Chase alumni will gather in the Hyatt Regency Ballroom West on Wednesday, June 18th from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. This well-attended event provides an opportunity for alumni to reconnect with their Chase classmates and colleagues and to visit with Chase professors and administrators as well.
Join the Chase Alumni Association
The Chase Alumni Association, founded in 1930, provides a means by which alumni can remain connected to the College of Law and to their classmates through special events, programs and publications. Membership dues are $50 per year or $75 for spouses who are both Chase graduates.
Your membership will enable the Association to provide opportunities for Chase students to take part in student activities and to sponsor academic and social events which enhance the image and reputation of your College of Law while facilitating interaction between students and alumni.
If you would like to join many of your fellow alumni in becoming a member of the Chase Alumni Association, please contact Bonnie Osborne at 859.572.5383 or osborney1@nku.edu.
