Program Overview
The 2008/2009 London Winter Program, scheduled for December 26, 2008 to January 8, 2009, offers courses in a variety of subjects. Students may earn up to three hours of college credit by combining this study abroad program with directed study activities preceding and/or following the travel portion of the course.
One day trip outside of London is planned. Previous years’ destinations have included sites such as Bath & Stonehenge, Canterbury & Dover and Stratford & Warwick. A ticket for one theatrical production will be provided.
Please carefully read Program Details for additional information pertinent to all CCSA programs.
Accommodations and Meals
Participants in the London Winter Program will reside in a four-star hotel in central London. Daily breakfasts will be provided.
Accommodations are based primarily on double occupancy with occasional use of multi-bedded rooms; single rooms may be available at additional cost.
Program costs
The cost of the London Winter Program is $3395. This includes health insurance, round-trip transportation from designated cities, accommodations, daily breakfast, program excursions, play(s), airport transfers and London Travelcard (subway and bus pass).
For those arranging their own transportation to London, the cost is $2895. These individuals must contact the central office before initiating travel arrangements (prior to the application deadline). Please note that group flights are scheduled to depart the U.S. on December 26 and will arrive in London on December 27. The group will depart from London on January 8 for return to the U.S.
All meals, other than breakfast, are at the participant’s own expense. A minimum of $600 should be budgeted for meals, additional transportation, entrance fees and departure tax (if applicable). Participants should also budget additional funds for personal expenses such as souvenirs and independent travel, based upon their individual spending habits.
Please be aware that tuition is not included in the program costs stated above. Refer to the Registration/Tuition & Fees section for additional information.
All costs are subject to change in the event of unanticipated increases in airfares, monetary exchange rates or other changes in program costs. In some cases, program items may be deleted in lieu of a price increase.
Payment Schedule and Deadlines
A $200 deposit is due at the time of application. A first payment of $1500 (in addition to the $200 deposit) to cover costs of the airline ticket and deposits on arrangements in London is due by the application deadline date, October 1, 2008. The final payment of $1695, plus single room costs (if applicable), is due by November 7, 2008. For those arranging their own air transportation to London, the final payment will be $1195. Please familiarize yourself with the Cancellation Policy on page 16.
Students are encouraged to apply well in advance of the October 1, 2008 application deadline, as priority is given to early applicants. Applicants will receive course confirmation approximately two weeks after the application deadline.
Checks should be made payable to “CCSA.” Please consider your cancelled check as receipt for payment. Returned checks will incur a $20 penalty fee.
