PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Australia Summer Program is scheduled from June 4 to July 7, 2008. Participants will be based in Sydney, positioned in one of the most beautiful harbors in the world. As Australia's largest city, Sydney boasts an incredible mixed culture. In addition to the harbor, Sydney is bordered by spectacular beaches to the east, the Blue Mountains to the west and boasts the architectural wonder of the Sydney Opera House. Students may earn from three to six hours of credit.

A special feature of this program is the State Transit Sydney Pass, which will allow unlimited travel on Sydney's buses, city and suburban trains and ferries for the duration of the program.

Please carefully read the Program Details for additional information pertinent to all CCSA programs.

CLASS SCHEDULE

Students may earn from three to six hours of credit. For those individuals who wish to earn six hours of academic credit, the courses have been divided into two groups to avoid a conflict in class scheduling. Please note that, although the option is available, students are not required by CCSA to enroll in two courses.

Courses in Group A are scheduled to meet Monday from 9 a.m. to noon and on Wednesday from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Full-day field trips for classes in this group will be Tuesdays, June 10 and June 24 and Thursdays, June 19 and July 3.

Courses in Group B are scheduled to meet Monday from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon. Full-day field trips for classes in this group will be Thursday, June 12 and June 26 and Tuesdays, June 17 and July 1.

Finals for the Australian Summer courses will be held on Friday, July 4.

ACCOMMODATIONS & MEALS

Participants in the Australia Summer program will reside in dormitories, budget accommodations and/or hotels. Accommodations are based primarily on double occupancy with occasional use of multi-bedded rooms; single rooms may be available at additional cost. Daily breakfasts and some additional meals will be provided.

PROGRAM COSTS

The cost of the Australia Summer Program is $6995. Included in the cost is health insurance, round-trip transportation from designated cities, accommodations, daily breakfast, program excursions, airport transfers and some additional meals.

For those arranging their own air transportation, the cost is $5795. These individuals must contact the central office before initiating travel arrangements (prior to the application deadline). Please note that group flights are scheduled to depart the U.S. on June 4 and will arrive in Sydney on June 6. The group will depart Sydney on July 7 for return to the U.S.

Most meals, other than breakfast, are at the participant’s own expense. A minimum of $950 should be budgeted for other meals, additional transportation, entrance fees and departure tax (if applicable). Participants should also budget additional funds for personal expenses such as souvenirs and independent travel, based upon their individual spending habits.

Please be aware that tuition is not included in the program costs stated above. Refer to the Registration/Tuition Link for additional information.

All costs are subject to change in the event of unanticipated increases in airfares, monetary exchange rates, or other changes in program costs. In some cases, program items may be deleted in lieu of a price increase.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE & DEADLINES

A $200 deposit is due at the time of application. A first payment of $3400 (in addition to the $200 deposit) to cover costs of the airline ticket and deposits on arrangements for Australia Summer is due by the application deadline, February 29, 2008. The final payment of $3395, plus single room costs (if applicable), is due by April 18, 2008. For those arranging their own air transportation, the final payment will be $2195.

Please familiarize yourself with the Cancellation Policy.

Students are encouraged to apply well in advance of the February 29, 2008 deadline, as priority is given to early applicants. Applicants will receive course confirmation approximately two weeks after the application deadline.

Checks should be made payable to “CCSA.” Please consider your cancelled check as receipt for payment. Returned checks will incur a $20 penalty fee.

PASSPORT & VISITOR VISA

The Australian government requires that U.S. citizens acquire visitor visas for travel to Australia.  Visa processing will be coordinated through the CCSA central office for those departing with the CCSA group.  A current passport is required to apply for a visitor visa; therefore, it is crucial that participants apply for passports as early as possible.  It is imperative that the central CCSA office has a copy of your passport on file so that the visa can be issued.  If we do not receive your passport in time to process the visa, your entry into Australia will be prohibited.  More information will be shared in correspondence to program participants.

Note:  Participants arranging their own transportation are responsible for obtaining their visitor visa to Australia.
