CARSKADON SETS NKU RECORD

Norse junior breaks school record with time of 18:38

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Tracy Carskadon set a school record in the five-kilometer run Saturday with a time of 18:38 as the Northern Kentucky University women’s cross country team captured first place at the Greensboro Invitational with a score of 21.

Carskadon, a junior and a graduate of Oak Hills High School, took first-place honors for the second straight race and helped the Norse win the team title. She also finished first at the Norse Cross Country Classic on Sept. 10 at A.J. Jolly Park.

The previous NKU record in the five-kilometer race was held by Lissa Faulkner, who posted a time of 18:55 at the Eastern Kentucky University Invitational in 2000.

NKU’s Julianne Hoekzema finished in second place with a time of 18:56. Rachel Stoehr took sixth place in a time of 20:09, while Lisa Sand posted an eighth-place finish with a time of 20:34.

In the men’s eight-kilometer race, NKU freshman Keith Knapp finished first with a time of 26:26 as the Norse captured the team title with a score of 18.

NKU’s Greaham Niemer posted a second-place finish with a time of 26:41, while teammate Brad Bullock took fourth place by completing the run in 27:29.

Adam Stoppelwerth (27:43) finished in fifth place for the Norse, who will participate in the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational next week at Chicago, Ill.
